Fashion figure - My True Love
It's been quite some time since I've been drawing figures.
Figures of beautiful women,
with slender, long legs,
Women who wore the clothes I had so carefully drawn,
Cut out to perfection.
I didn't know all this time along,
That what I'd love the most about drawing
But now it seems crystal clear to me.

Cut out to perfection.
I didn't know all this time along,

You know the kind of women I used to draw?
Well, apparently, it's called fashion figure. And now that I've found out that it's quite different from the other kind of drawing, I've really set my heart on it. Fashion figure emphasizes on the human body, and the clothings compared to the other drawings from what I've observed. It's not all about human illustration, yet it's not all about FASHION only. It's about art, which carries a deeper meaning (to me). And I LOVE IT!!!
In fashion illustration , your figure should be drawn- long
- slim
- squared off shoulders and
- very unrealistically elongated legs.
It will look extremely out of proportion, as the legs tend to be exaggeratedly long. The waist must be drawn very slender.
In drawing your figure, remember that
- the waist is one third down from the top of the figure.
# It is most important to show this important aspect of the figure, which will add to the elegance of your croquis. The waist falls in between the pelvic box and the upper torso shape, and should have a nice curve inward over these two structures of the body. The figures are measured in head widths, in order to ensure you’re getting the proportions right.
The true female figure measures seven to eight head lengths in height, the fashion figure measures nine to ten head lengths.
# In fashion drawing you must retain the basic proportions of the human form from head to crotch
# Add extra length to the legs to give dramatic stylised effect and give your designs more dynamic appeal.

So, I guess you guys will be seeing more of my drawings.
But this time, I've set my heart on a particular branch.
No more drawing aimlessly.
From now on, it'll be Figure Fashion.
Good luck yin~!!
