Girls and boys out there..
Men and women sama-sama all have to be alert nowadays..
TOKYO – A 43-year-old Japanese woman whose sudden divorce in a virtual game world made her so angry that she killed her online husband's digital persona has been arrested on suspicion of hacking, police said Thursday.
The woman, who is jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data, used his identification and password to log onto popular interactive game "Maple Story" ( sorry guys, as much as I love maple, it's a fact that too many people are getting hurt by it and thru it) to carry out the virtual murder in mid-May.
"I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry," that's what the woman said.
She has not yet been formally charged, but if convicted could face a prison term of up to five years or a fine up to $5,000. A fine for killing a virtual character?!? Absurd!
A little introduction on maple. Players in "Maple Story" raise and manipulate digital images called "avatars" that represent themselves, while engaging in relationships, social activities and fighting against monsters and other obstacles, which is sort of fun if you don't get into any social conflicts.
This woman here used login information she got from the 33-year-old office worker when their characters were happily married, and killed the character. The man complained to police when he discovered that his beloved online avatar was dead. ( A man of such matured age, complaining? absurd!! =.= )
The woman was arrested of course. Moral of the story, getting involved in online games is fine. Getting involved in social conflicts in the strange world of networks, where everyone is a stranger another, can be the most dangerous thing ever. You don't know who you are connected with, you have simply no idea who is just across the line. You have no idea what could ever happen to you the next minute!!
So have a care people, ladies and gentlemen. If you are willing to take the risk, by all means go ahead, just have a care that there's as much evil lurking out there, as there is goodness in this world. (goodness = me~!! XD)
